| Tasty is all about teaching people easy ways to make delicious food. What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone who says cooking is too hard? What I love so much about cooking is that it doesn't have to be hard or intimidating. Cooking for me has always been about fun; it’s a journey with the best reward at the end—food! If cooking is intimidating to you, I find starting with the basics is a great way to become more familiar with flavors and comfortable in your kitchen. Scrambling eggs, making a simple chicken dish, or an easy stir-fry are all great ways to start. As you build confidence, try to play with different flavors (emphasis on the PLAY!) and switch up your methods and techniques (baking vs. sauteing). If you start by cooking for yourself, there is also a lot less pressure! Once you are more comfortable, try to cook for a close friend or loved one and then maybe even a crowd! How do you compare the evolution of food in media from cooking shows to now digital platforms like Tasty? I believe food intrinsically connects people, so it’s only natural that food has a place on digital platforms meant to connect people worldwide. I loved watching cooking shows as a kid and often pretended to have my own, but they always showcased the perfect chef or dish! I think what has helped Tasty grow to such a massive scale is that it has made cooking more accessible rather than aspirational. I love to show my own trial and error in the kitchen because it’s real, and hopefully inspires people to not be afraid to make mistakes because that is how you learn and grow. What’s your favorite Tasty recipe you’ve ever made? I’ve been making Tasty videos for over two years now (so that’s a lot of videos) but I think my favorite has to be Chocolate Croissants. This video was also my first solo Behind the Scenes video for YouTube and it showcased my journey (more like struggle) to not only make croissants but to make the Tasty video too! Croissants are known to be one of the most difficult things to make, and I was proud of myself for sticking through it until I was able to do it successfully, although I am not sure I will EVER make them again. What’s the craziest moment you’ve ever experienced in the Tasty kitchen? To be honest, I think I may be the cause of most of the craziness in the Tasty kitchen. I did get to work on the shoot with Migos which was one of the coolest (and craziest) experiences I have ever been a part of! |
